A standard stringer is a solid stringer which is the band to the side of the stair. A solid stringer runs from the soffit up to approx 30mm above the riser height, whereas a profile-cut stringer is cut to follow the profile of the stairs (no stringer visible above the riser height).
No, the lapping bars need to be supplied and installed by others on-site.

FTI don’t typically recommend the use of Fast Tread® stairs externally due to potential long term corosion. If Fast Tread® stairs are to be used externally, it is the builders responsibilty to seal the stair to protect from weather (waterproof).
Every stair is different. The price of Fast Tread® stairs depends upon the handrail type, throat thickness and stringer type. Please send us your project plans to get an accurate cost.

Both thicknesses of metal decking formwork are fit for purpose. The difference is where aesthetics is important, if the metal decking finish won’t be visible in the completed project, 0.75mm is perfect. Where the metal decking will be visible, or where aesthetics are important, we recommend the 1.0mm thickness because it will have significantly less sagging.

Countersunk holes refer to holes punched down the face of the door frame to suit a M10 Dynabolt.

Yes. Fire doors are constructed with steel or aluminium hinge plates and lock plates for reinforcement. Most doors are marked “TOP HINGE.” If unmarked, check for a small hole at the top or use a strong magnet to locate the internal plates.
Duracote and HMR-XP finishes (both green-colored) are the best options for painting. Duracote is rated up to 1 hour, while HMR-XP MDF can be rated up to 2 hours.
Australian Standards allow a maximum of 2.5mm per side. Cutting beyond this affects integrity and voids certification.
Firecore doors: Edge rails must be 7.5-10mm. Standard rails are 10mm, so no more than 2.5mm should be trimmed.
Pyropanel doors: A total of 3mm can be removed across the width or height (e.g., 1.5mm per side).
To avoid trimming, we recommend ordering custom sized doors.
No, this voids the warranty and increases the risk of delamination. Fire doors are tested as manufactured, not modified onsite.
Yes, but only if reducing the height by 50mm or less. However, this is costly—ordering the correct size initially is more efficient. (All Surefit™ doors are made to order, as per custom sizes).
We supply tags only after certification approval. Surefit™ is not the certifier.
Before requesting certification, keep the following in mind:
Tags come with 3M adhesive and holes for nailing or riveting. For best results, use both methods and place the tag at eye level (1.5m from the floor). If using both frame and door tags, stagger them to prevent obstruction.
Ensure you use only tested and approved hardware for your fire door. Contact us for the necessary certification paperwork.
