Construction is well underway at Sydney’s second airport, the Western Sydney International Nancy-Bird Walton Airport is an infrastructure project that will connect the future social, cultural, and economic hub of Western Parkland City with the world. The terminal is being designed with the customer at heart, with international and domestic services under one roof to deliver a seamless experience for both airlines and passengers. The new airport is on track to begin international and domestic passenger services and air cargo flights in late 2026.
Multiplex has been awarded the contract from design to completion, and they’ve awarded the formwork package to BKH Group. BKH Group have a long-standing relationship with FTI Group on over 18 projects in the last 4 years. Fast Tread® stairs are being installed as the fire stairs throughout, most of the stairs are wide flights and there’s a mixture of vertical picket handrails and wall-mounted handrails. FTI Group is also contracted to complete the site welding works to link up the handrails, forming a continuous BCA Compliant handrail for the fire stairs.
